The RSPO is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative on sustainable palm oil.
The principal objective of RSPO is to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil through co-operation within the supply chain and open dialogue between its stakeholders.
In November 2011, the RSPO executive board approved the final version of the RSPO Supply Chain Certification Systems (RSPO SCCS) in which four options for a supply chain model are described and the supply chain certification requirements for each of the models.
Any individual batch of palm oil can be traded through one of the four supply chain of custody models that are approved by RSPO.
This RSPO SCCS is applicable for use with all products that contain either 100% or a percentage of certified palm oil products and is required to evaluate the traceability through the supply chain of all products for the four supply chain models:
· Identity Preserved.
· Mass Balance.
· Book and Claim.
